Everyone needs help sometimes. Whether they are learning a new skill, joining a new company or being promoted to CEO. And everyone loves being helpful as well as receiving help, right? Unfortunately the act of trying to help can sometimes unintentionally cause more harm than good, leading to frustration and negative impacts on individuals, teams and businesses. In this talk, Paula will highlight some of the behaviours that we often see in the tech industry, describe how good intentions can go bad and suggest some simple guidelines to prevent this. Paula joined Pivotal in 2015 as Director of Delivery Account Management for EMEA and is focused on working together with clients to drive innovation, disruption and transformation. She was previously Chief Operating Officer and co­-founder of CloudCredo and has worked in the IT industry for over 16 years. Paula is passionate about community, diversity and inclusion, and has a range of speaking experience, including Cloud Foundry Summits in Santa Clara and Berlin, QCon in London and several meetups. She also organises the London PaaS User Group, Coed: Code meetup group and is part of the organising committee for DevOpsDays London 2017.
